LSU, Alabama Rematch in National Championship Game Highlights 2011-12 Bowl Schedule
The Southeastern Conference will take home its sixth consecutive national championship next month, as Louisiana State and Alabama will play a rematch in the BCS National Championship game. Despite a last-minute push by Oklahoma State in a 44-10 drubbing of then-#10 Oklahoma, Alabama edged out the Cowboys in the final BCS standings for the #2 spot and a shot at the national title. They will take on #1 LSU, which pounded #14 Georgia, 42-10, in the SEC title game to remain undefeated.
LSU defeated Alabama 9-6 in overtime in their regular season matchup on November 5th. While surveys show most people outside of Louisiana and Alabama do not want to see a rematch in the national championship game, the poll voters and computers gave the slight edge to the Crimson Tide, giving Alabama another shot.

Mike Leach Named Head Coach at Washington State
After two years away from football, the pirate captain is back. Former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach was named the new head coach at Washington State on Wednesday.
According to CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman, who first broke the story, Leach’s contract will be for five years and will make him the third-highest paid coach in the Pac-12 at more than $2 million per year.

As we enter the final week of college football’s regular season, we already have a good idea of what the national championship game will look like. Barring a colossal upset in the SEC title game and a whole lot of poll voters changing their minds and moving Oklahoma State up, LSU and Alabama will play a rematch of their earlier overtime game in the BCS National Championship. Urban Meyer Gets Millions to Come Out of Hibernation and Coach Ohio State
Urban Meyer has been hired as the head coach of the Ohio State football program, the AP reports. Multiple sources have estimated that Meyer, who won two national championships while coaching the University of Florida, will sign a multi-year contract paying him $6 million per year. Meyer, an Ohio native, will be formally announced at a news conference at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
