The 2013 Oscar nominations were announced this morning by Oscar host and 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane and 'Gangster Squad' star Emma Stone at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. MacFarlane is the first Oscar host to actually announce the nominees since Charlton Heston's turn in 1972. So who are the 2013 Oscar nominees? Who were the big surprises and the big snubs? Find out!
It wasn't but two weeks ago that 'Argo,' the Ben Affleck-directed hostage thriller, was considered a front-runner, and possible winner of Oscar gold. Two critics awards later, and now it's 'Zero Dark Thirty' that has taken its thunder, and possibly for good. But the race isn't over, and 'Argo' has just unleashed a featurette spotlighting how good it is.
The 2012 Oscars managed to include the expected and shocks all at the same time. Odds on favorite, ‘The Artist’, won five awards including Best Picture, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin and Best Director for Michel Hazanivicius. But ‘Hugo’ gave it a run for its money, also bringing home five awards (though none in the major categories).
The Academy Awards are slated for Sunday evening. While you can catch the live broadcast on ABC at 7 p.m. ET, there’s no reason you can’t get into the spirit of Hollywood’s biggest night now.
