The National Grid website reports wide-spread power outages in both the City of Utica, New Hartford and New York Mills. The total number is somewhere above 5,000 and crews are working to correct the problem.
The wind and ice storm that swept through Central New York this week is still impacting many in Oneida and Herkimer County. On Wednesday there were over 10,000 without power for most of the day. National Grid has worked to correct most of the issues, but some are still without power. One local school has even closed for the day to an outage.
New York State Electric and Gas says this time it was equipment failure at AES Westover, formerly known as the Goudey Substation off Riverside Drive in Johnson City that cut power to some 7,400 customers just before 6 p.m. September 16, four days after more than 3,000 customers lost power in Johnson City and parts of the Town of Union for close to two hours

UPDATE: 04/20/2015 09:45am Although a cause has yet to be determined a spokesperson for National Grid says that power has been restored to most residents. Any customers who are still experiencing power outages should call the company.
