The former prison tailor serving time for helping two killers escape from an upstate New York correctional facility will soon walk free.

A former prison guard who pleaded guilty to assisting David Sweat and Richard Matt escape from the Clinton County Correctional Facility in Northern New York is himself a free man again.

The New York State Inspector General’s Office is faulting the Clinton Correctional Facility for “chronic complacency and systematic failures” that allowed two killers to escape.

David Sweat, one of two men who escaped from a maximum-security prison in Northern New York last June, was sentenced to additional jail time today.
