Detroit woman Texana Hollis was evicted from the home her late husband bought over 60 years ago last September when her son failed to pay property taxes linked to a reserve mortgage.

Fueled by drought conditions and wind gusts from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, the massive Bastrop County Complex fire east of Austin is the most destructive fire of the year, Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd said. Despite the efforts of hundreds of firefighters, the blaze has grown to 30,000 acres and is still uncontained.

Authorities in the East Texas city of Nacogdoches have found an object about four feet in diameter that NASA believes to be a power and water tank from the space shuttle Columbia.

“It’s one of ours,” said NASA spokeswoman Lisa Malone. “We’re looking into whether we’ll send a team out or local authorities can.”
