Legislation that would allow Stewart's Shops to change a portion of a residential neighborhood in East Utica to commercial has been defeated in the Utica Common Council.
In an effort to put an end to violent crimes in Utica, the city's faith leaders, community members and public officials held a second 'Peace Through Unity March' in West Utica on Wednesday.
After a long battle between the Stewart's Shop corporation and the residents of East and West Utica, the decision has been made by the company to build on both ends of the city, pending approval by the Utica Common Council.
