Utica, NY (WIBX) - A former Oneida County legislator, and Democratic candidate for the City's 2nd ward seat is calling for the creation of an ethics panel. Larry Tanoury pledged to create the Ethics Commission, if elected. He says the commission would consist of 9-12 citizens, appointed proportionally by the city council and the administration.

The commission would be given full independent authority to review and act on complaints without what he calls,  "political interference." In a released statement, Tanoury said, "The number one concern I'm hearing in the city is a lack of trust among residents when it comes to their elected officials. Before we are able to move this city forward, we need to enact strong ethics policies that insure elected officials are acting in the best interests of the taxpayers. This is a step in that direction and is way overdue."
