CLARENCE, N.Y. (AP) — A 14-year-old girl has died from injuries suffered when the all-terrain vehicle her boyfriend was driving overturned on a suburban Buffalo bike path.

Ann Potoczniak (puh-TOHZ'-nee-ak), of Cheektowaga, says her daughter, Mikaela Gwitt, died Wednesday after being taken off life support at a Buffalo hospital where she had been taken after being injured last Saturday night.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says the girl was a passenger on an ATV a 15-year-old boy was driving on the bike bath in the town of Clarence when it crashed. The boy suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Mikaela was a freshman at Depew High School.

Potoczniak lost her older daughter, 18-year-old Amanda Macaluso, in 2014 when the young woman's car collided with a tractor-trailer outside Buffalo.
