Temporary Traffic Pattern Changes For Independence Day Events In Utica

Kristine Bellino

Because of security concerns and flooding-related issues things will be done a little differently at this year’s Independence Day events in Utica.

Utica Police say the changes are temporary and are asking for the public’s cooperation.

According to a statement from police: “The south side of all (of) the side streets between Culver Avenue and Ontario Street from Mary Street to Crouse Street will be posted as “Temporary No Parking Police Order.”  Streets affected: Mary Street, Blandina Street, Lansing Street, Rutger Street, Guelich Street, Gardner Street, South Street, Girard Street, Copperfield Street, and Crouse Street.  This will assist with clearing out post-event traffic.  Culver Avenue will be closed to traffic from Rutger Street to Bleecker Street for the day beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. and until approximately [30 minutes] after the Fireworks display is concluded.  Residents who live between Culver Avenue and Ludlow Street may exit for valid emergencies.  The 1800 blocks of Lansing Street, Blandina Street, and Culver Court will be barricaded and no parking will be allowed for the entire day until the completion of the event.  The 1900 block of Rutger Street will be barricaded and no traffic or parking will be allowed during the event. Ward Street, Poe Street and Redfield Street will be closed to local necessary traffic only.  The streets located between Culver Avenue and Proctor Park will be closed to local necessary traffic only.”

Anyone with questions is being asked to contact the Utica Police Department Traffic Services Unit at: (315) 223.3468.
