Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Better Business Bureau revoked the accreditation of ten New York State companies in its first quarter report. Peggy Penders, Public Relations Director for the BBB said, "It's always a very unfortunate circumstance when a business does fail to maintain those standards of trusts and unfortunately we have ten of those reports this first quarter."

Penders says the bureau has a strict Standards of Trust policy in place and each affiliated business is required to maintain them throughout their relationship with the BBB. One local company that lost its accreditation is, A+Movers of Lee Center, NY. The company received a C+ rating, and Penders says it was due to an unresolved customer complaint. "A+ Movers did have one complaint that was filed with them and it was regarding a product of service, and unfortunately they did not resolved that complaint so that is the problem that has affected their accreditation with the Better Business Bureau," she said.

Once a company loses its accreditation, Penders says they have to wait a full year before they can re-apply for accreditation with the bureau. The ten companies that lost their accreditation during the first quarter report include:

  • A+ Movers of Lee Center, NY, currently with a C+ rating, because the company failed to resolve a customer complaint regarding a product or service problem.
  • A W Britt Home Improvement of Rochester, NY, currently with a C- rating, because the company failed to respond to a customer complaint regarding a product or service problem.
