The best BBQ Masters from across the country will make a trip to Old Forge in July to compete in the Great ADK BBQ Festival at the Old Forge Home Show. This BBQ cooking competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. You won't want to miss this exciting event.

Max Cohen of Meyda Tiffany Lighting is one of the organizers of the event. Cohen says, "The 2016 Great Adirondack BBQ Festival was an amazing experience. With the first year under our belt, we have added a few new features for 2017." Since the inaugural event last year, this weekend has become one of the largest and most respected barbecue competitions in the Northeast. Cohen says, "We have been asked by Mark Gibbs of Checkered Flag 500 BBQ to host the 2017 Mid Atlantic BBQ Association’s New York State Championship."

The competition offers up a $15,000 cash prize for the best grill master and that type of scratch brings in only the best. The event is expected to bring in more than 50 Kansas City Barbecue Society teams and over 5,000 people from across the country. Meats will be smoked in four different categories including Pork, Pork Ribs, Brisket and Chicken. The judges of the competition are certified members of the KCBS.

New this year is The Great Adirondack Cook-Off. This portion of the competition is judged by the general public and competitors can prepare any type of dish, not limited to BBQ. Those competing in the Cook-Off will also receive a cash prize. Registration is free and open to the public.

All of the food is complimented by one of the areas best home shows. The Old Forge Home Show will feature all the best products from several area businesses. The Old Forge Home Show will be attended by a variety of professionals and home owners, including: Lighting, home builders and developers, remodelers and contractors, building material suppliers, plumbing HVAC and electrical contractors, lending institutions, landscape architects, camping leisure and sporting enthusiasts, pet owners and those who appreciate wildlife.
