Replicas of two of Christopher Columbus’ ships, the Nina and Pinta, are traveling the Erie Canal this week.

The ships stopped at Lock 20 in Marcy Wednesday morning.

The Columbus Foundation’s ships sail throughout the year in the United States, stopping at new ports every week.

The Foundation’s aim is to educate the public on the kind of ships Christopher Columbus used to discover the new world in 1492.

The ships are headed to Oswego.
