Three Area Troopers Receive NYSP Award For Bravery, Heroism

Albany, NY (WIBX) - The three state troopers who witnessed a father murder his infant child last year were honored today.

Sergeant Thomas Haumann, and Troopers Carlo Gennario Jr and Richard Snyder, all working out of Sylvan Beach, received the Brummer Award today at the 35th annual State Police Memorial and Awards Ceremony.

They responded to call of a domestic dispute in Blossvale on June 22, 2010, that resulted in the murder of yound Eithen Theall at the hands of his own father, Adam Theall, with a shotgun.

When Adam Theall pointed the weapon at the troopers, they opened fire striking him several times.

The Brummer Award is given annual for bravery and heroism.

Also, trooper Kelly Caporale of Troop D out of Richfield Springs received the William McDonagh Community Service Award.
