Thruway Authority Abandons Plan For Toll Hike
Albany, NY (WIBX) – The New York State Thruway Authority has abandoned plans to increase the Thruway toll for trucks by 45%.
Cuomo administration officials say a new proposal has been drawn up to close a $90 million shortfall in the Thruway budget with cost savings and no toll increases.
The proposed increase was branded as a $90 million backdoor tax by business groups that would have hurt the already struggling economy.
Governor Cuomo says their plan calls for no toll increases for the next three years, but he stopped short of guaranteeing that no toll hikes would occur.
