Albany, NY (WIBX) - It can cost drivers three points and between $50 and $100 dollars per person but that's still not enough to prevent New Yorkers to drive without safety belts.

In the latest "Buckle Up" campaign 12,692 seat belt tickets were issued throughout the state in just fourteen days, with 824 of those for child restraint violations.

State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner and Chair of the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee Barbara Fiala says, "...[T]oo many motorists are still not wearing their seat belts...Motorists need to remember to buckle up every trip, every time."
