The pastor of the Word of Life Church has rejected a plea offer from the Oneida County District Attorney's Office in the beatings of Lucas and Christoper Leonard.

Tiffanie Irwin, who's facing charges including second-degree murder and assault, made a brief appearance in court on Monday.

District Attorney Scott McNamara says in a case of this magnitude, it's very common for the DA's Office to ask for a plea to the highest charge in the indictment, with the sentence up to the court.

McNamara says that's exactly what they did in this case.  He says Irwin was asked to plead guilty to depraved indifference murder, with a sentence of 18 years to life in prison.

Irwin could receive 25 years to life if convicted of second-degree murder at trial.

Motions in the case will be heard on February 1st.

Six other defendants in the case will be in court this week to answer to plea offers.
