Community activist Tim Trent is announcing his candidacy for Utica Common Council at large as the Conservative Party candidate.

Trent says he feels Utica voters deserve the right to choose their citywide council at large representative in November.

He added that although it is somewhat late in the election season, he feels his experience attending common council meetings and living in the city have prepared him for office.

Trent says if elected he plans to focus on reducing crime in Utica and tackling the City's financial troubles.

Trent will face incumbent Jack LoMedico on November 4.
