The head of the Utica / Rome region's largest newspaper is being honored today.

Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri has declared Thursday. March 27, 2014 "Donna Donavan Day" in preparation for the Utica Observer-Dispatch (The "OD") president and publisher's retirement at month's end.

Donovan, who began her career as a reporter with the Courier-News in 1974, worked as an editor of the OD in the eighties, then published other papers before re-joining the OD as its publisher in 1991.  She has served at the healm ever since.

Palmieri will present Donovan with a formal proclamation at the Stanley Theatre, which will become the object of most of her professional attention post-retirement.
