The Town of Floyd will save over $8,100 a year on electricity costs, thanks to a new Photo Voltaic (PV) solar power system.

Town officials unveiled the new system on Monday.

Town Supervisor William Strief says the system is clean, safe, protects the environment and saves money.

The solar system provides electricity for the town's municipal building and highway and sanitation departments.

The project was funded through a $100,000 state grant secured by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.
