Verona, NY (WIBX) - The Town of Verona is hosting a holiday party for all its residents thanks to Town Board Councilman, Fred "Fritz" Scherz Jr. who said the event is to bring the people of the town together for some holiday cheer and fun family friendly activities. "I just thought it would be a nice thing to do for the community because I absolutely love Verona and sometimes it seems like the only time friends see each other is just for calling hours and I just think we really have to get people together and have some fun--have some good times and enjoy each other," Scherz said.

Scherz said Santa Claus will make an appearance and other special guests will include State Senator-Elect Joe Griffo, Oneida County Legislator Mike Clancy and Oneida County Sheriff-Elect Robert Maciol. Another special guest will be McGruff the Crime Dog and weather permitting, a horse drawn wagon. The event is geared to be kid friendly and the councilman said there will also be music, reading and other art workshops for kids.

Also, local businesses or individuals interested in donating or looking to be a part of the first annual Verona community holiday party can contact the organizer, Councilman Scherz at (315) 363-3509 or via the web atfritz@fritzscherz.com and www.fritzscherz.com.

The event happening this Sunday, December 12th is free to attend and will be held at the Verona Fire Hall on 1 Volunteer Avenue from 1-3PM.
