An overturned tractor trailer on I-87 held up traffic for hours on Tuesday near the Saratoga County town of Moreau.

New York State Police say the driver of the truck, which was carrying about 40,000 pounds of clothing, was allegedly driving faster than he should have and failed to negotiate the curved on-ramp.  The truck overturned and the fuel tank on the driver's side punctured, dumping an estimated thirty gallons of diesel fuel near a drainage ditch.

The spill was mitigated by a Spill Response Team from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

The accident happened on July 1, 2014 just before 11:30am at the Exit 17 southbound on-ramp from State Route 9 South.

The operator is Pennsylvania-based Evans Delivery Company. The driver, who was ticketed, was identified as 33-year old Victor M. Lizaro of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He was hospitalized in Glens Falls with what troopers described as minor injuries.
