More information has been made available from the Broome County Sheriff's Office pertaining to Monday afternoon's tractor-trailer rollover on Route 17 West at exit 71 (Airport Road) at about 5:25 PM.  According to the Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a rollover accident that ended up with the tractor-trailer in the grass median between Airport Road and the Exit 71 N off ramp.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.  The truck, owned by MBI Trucking was hauling residential garbage which was contained in the grass embankment area.

The driver was identified as 38 year-old Donald Gardner of Canastota, NY.  He had gotten out of the vehicle before police arrived.  He was transported by EMS personnel to Wilson Hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation into the cause of the accident.  Police periodically shut down Route 17 West last evening into the early morning hours for cleanup and accident reconstruction.
