Mountains of snow and blinding weather conditions are forcing the continued closure of the New York State Thruway between Exits 46 to 61 today as Buffalo and parts of Rochester are expecting to get hit with even more of the white stuff.

A lake effect snow warning is in effect until this evening for Monroe and Livingston counties.  A similar warning is in effect until 1:00a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014. Residents of Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming Counties could see another foot of accumulation.

The 174th Attack Wing, based out of Hancock International in Syracuse, is in Buffalo assisting with storm recovery efforts.  A total of approximately 300 National Guard troops have been deployed to the area to assist.

Amtrak Service is partially running along the I-90 corridor.  Trains 63 and 64 are making trips into Buffalo.  Several lines, however, will remain out of service until at least this afternoon pending additional weather events.

So far at least seven deaths have been blamed on the storm.

In a news conference last night Governor Andrew Cuomo reiterated the importance of listening to authorities when officials advise residents to "stay home."
