Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has declared a state of emergency in Oneida County due the effects of winter storm Riley.

After conferring with emergency officials, Picente made the declaration in order to preserve public safety and render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being and health of the citizens of Oneida County.

Picente continues to urge no unnecessary travel as the storm continues throughout the afternoon.

Madison County has also issued a NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL WARNING until 5 p.m. Friday.

Several municipalities have also issued Snow Emergencies:

Utica in effect until further notice

Village of Herkimer in effect until further notice

Village of Yorkville in effect until further notice

Village of New York Mills in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday

Village of Ilion Snow Emergency in effect until 11:00p.m., No parking in Village streets and no unnecessary travel

Rome State of Emergency and Snow Emergency.  All cars off city streets by 1 p.m.  No unnecessary travel until 6 a.m. Saturday.
