The Florida man accused of intentionally running down a New York State Trooper who was making a routine traffic stop on Interstate 81 between Hinman's Corners and Castle Creek last year will not go on trial, November 10th as had been scheduled.

61-year-old Almond Upton is charged with first degree murder in the death of Trooper Christopher Skinner on May 29th, 2014.

No new trial date has been set.

Upton stripped naked and fled into the woods after his pickup truck drove into Trooper Skinner along side the highway.

During his arraignment in Town of Chenango County, he claimed he had gone into a time warp before Skinner was hit and his defense team has reportedly been focusing on Upton’s mental state while forming their case.

Upton has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts.

Meanwhile, a new, New York State Police K9 that graduated on October 8th with his partner, Trooper Darrell Dening, from the academy is named Kin after Trooper Skinner and is already on duty in Troop C.
