A DWI arrest turned dangerous for a state trooper in Buffalo.

While responding to a one-car accident on I-190 on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 the trooper performed a sobriety test on 36-year-old Wade F. Wampler of Gowanda, New York.

Wampler allegedly failed the test and struggling with the arresting trooper.  Wampler was eventually handcuffed with help from members of the Buffalo Fire Department.

In a written release New York State Police say that Wampler continued to resist arrest and started to kick the trooper.  As a result he is now being charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and false personation in addition to driving while intoxicated.

Wampler is awaiting arraignment at the City of Buffalo Police Department's jail

The trooper was treated for his injuries.
