Troopers Investigate One-Car Crash In Verona

A Sherrill man is facing DWI charges after crashing his truck into a National Grid utility pole Sunday morning.

State police say John Mautner told them he swerved to avoid hitting a group of deer that wandered into the road.

The pole Mautner hit split in half causing wires to fall into the road and a power outage in the immediate area.

He was arrested for DWI along with speeding, moving from a lane unsafely and an unclassified misdemeanor.

Mautner will return to court on August 9.
