Two people were reported injured in a town of Union crash involving four vehicles, including a truck that slammed into a former hair salon.

The chaos occurred at about 9:45 Tuesday morning at a small shopping plaza on Union Center Maine Highway in West Corners.

A truck and trailer owned by a landscaping company raced through an intersection and struck a utility pole. The truck then crashed into a storefront where New Generations Hair and Nail Salon had previously operated.

Those injured were taken to hospitals for evaluation. Initial reports indicated they had sustained minor injuries.

NYSEG spokesman Bob Pass said electricity service to about 170 customers was shut off to enable workers to safely start the process of replacing the damaged pole. He said full power was restored to the area at 12:05 p.m.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. A section of Route 26 between Carl Street and Day Hollow Road was closed while the investigation was underway.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the truck crashed into the current location of New Generations Hair and Nail Salon. The business moved to a nearby site about three years ago.
