The Minnesota Twins (3-7) got to Freddy Garcia for five runs on ine hits in a 7-3 win over the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Monday.

Justin Morneau had a solo-home run, Joe Mauer added had three hits and the Twins' 2-through-8 hitters each drove in one run, sending Garcia to an 0-1 start.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson lead-off  with back-to-back homers against ex-Yankee Carl Pavano But Pavano settled in from there, allowing just five more hits and one run over the next seven innings to improve to 1-1. Jeter (.378), Granderson, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Texeira each had a pair of hits for New York (5-5).

Francisco Liriano (1-0) take the mound for the Twins on Tuesday night against Yankee ace C.C. Sabathia (0-0).
