Two Dead After Motorcycle, Truck Crash In West Monroe

West Monroe, NY (WIBX) - Two people are dead following a truck and motorcycle accident in the Town of West Monroe.

According to Oswego County Sheriff's Investigators, the accident happened on State Route 49, at the intersection of Whig Hill Road.

Officials say Robert Hoke, 54, of Westernville, and Lisa Staple, 49, of Rome, were traveling westbound on Route 49 on Hoke's motorcycle, when they collided with a Ford pick-up driven by Carl Wells, 65, of Parish.

Hoke and Staple were pronounced dead at the scene, while Wells was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Although the investigation is continuing, authorities say Well's failure to yield the right of way may have played a factor.
