Two horses in central New York have died from Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

The Oneida County Health Department says a horse in the Town of Trenton was euthanized earlier this week and tested positive for EEE.

And a horse stabled in the Madison County Town of Lenox also died from the virus.

Health officials say horses can be very vulnerable to EEE which is transmitted through infected mosquitoes, and it's important to get them vaccinated against the virus every year.
