Two Killed In Crash On Route 12 In Boonville

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two people killed in Tuesday afternoon's car-motorcycle accident on Route 12 in Boonville.

Deputies say a car driven by 78-year old Thomas Grower of Forestport collided with a motorcycle being driven by 20-year old Mitchell Mashaw of Port Leyden.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and a sheriff's deputy tried to pull Mashaw over, but he sped away.

According to witnesses, both vehicles caught fire upon impact and an attempt by a passerby and a the deputy to free the driver of the vehicle was unsuccessful

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
