Two Killed In Town Of Russia Fire [UPDATE]

State Police say a father and his son were killed in an early morning fire in a mobile home on Military Road in the Herkimer County Town of Russia.

Police have identified the victims as 40-year old James Huckabone and 13-year old Parker Huckabone.  Both were taken to Albany Medical Center for autopsies.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.

State Police were assisted by members of the Poland, Newport and Barneveld Fire Departments.

Parker Huckabone was a student in the Poland Central School District.

The school district has issued a statement, offering their condolences and thoughts to his family, friends and neighbors.

Superintendent Laura Dutton says a team of counselors provided support to students yesterday.  Dutton says they'll continue to provide support throughout the day today and as needed next week.

Dutton says at this difficult time, she knows students, staff and the community will draw together as they have done in the past.
