The case of Rachael Mattice keeps getting weirder. Two men, who know Rachael have been arrested for alleged actions they took while she was reported missing.

James Gasiewski and Jacob Eggleston of Johnstown were arrested for their involvement in an incident that occurred June 29 at a home in the Town of Caroga.

State Police say Eggleston drove Gasiewski to the home in Fulton Country after seeing false information on social media about where Mattice was being held. They allegedly threw an ignited smoke producing device through a window and Gasiewski called 911 to report the house was on fire. Police believe the men hoped the fire department and police would respond, search the home and find Mattice if she was inside.

Police say there was no one in the home and firefighters quickly extinguished the smoke device.

Gasiewski is charged with Reckless Endangerment of Property and Criminal Mischief 4th degree and Eggleston is facing charges of Conspiracy 6th degree. Both were released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Caroga Court.

There is no information Rachael Mattice had any involvement or knowledge of the incident.

Mattice returned home after being missing almost 2 weeks. She claimed she was kidnapped by a bearded man and escaped. She pleaded not guilty to charges of falsely reporting an abduction August 10th.

The search for Mattice involved more than 100 police officers, rangers and volunteers.
