Herkimer Police have made two arrests for two separate incidents at the Wal-Mart on Caroline Street.

The first arrest stemmed from a report of a man who allegedly stole merchandise and fled from the store. As Herkimer police were en route to the scene, they were contacted by State DEC officers who told them a man was running westbound on Route 5.

A vehicle was stopped which was occupied by 38-year-old George Eissler of Mohawk and operated by a female. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Eissler was in possession of items alleged to have been stolen. He was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny and will appear in village court at a later date.

The second arrest came as a result of a report of a male pushing a cart of stolen merchandise through the locked doors, removing them from the track. Officers arrived and located a male matching the description, running while pushing the cart of merchandise toward a vehicle.

He was directed by police to stop, but he continued to attempt to flee. He was apprehended by police, and the manager of the store was able to identify him as the man who allegedly stole the merchandise. 26-year-old Michael Curcio was arrested, transported to the Police Station and charged with Petit Larceny and Obstruction. He was processed and held for arraignment. He has been remanded to Herkimer County Correctional Facility.
