Two men are learning that stealing goats from a New York farm was a bad idea.

26-Year-old Michael Ryan Sumner and 21-year-old Brandon Tyler Hume were taken into custody after police in Montgomery County say that the two stole goats from a farm and sold them on Craigslist.

A note about the missing goats on Facebook was seen by the man who had allegedly purchased them from Sumner and Hume.  He stepped forward and said that he had purchased them for $1,400.

The twenty-one lucky goats were picked up and brought home by their rightful owner, Mari Grace Hoag, at the LoveKnot Farm in Canajoharie.  Although some of the baby goats (kids) are ill, it is believed that they will recover.

Sumner and Hume face charges of grand larceny, criminal mischief, and trespassing and are being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
