Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police arrested two people they say are behind an incident involving a group of men threatening the public with guns. It happened on the 100 block of Taylor Avenue in Utica on September 9, around noon, according to UPD.

Officials say a chase ensued when they arrived on the scene to investigate, and saw several men walking from the area. Police say the men exhibited suspicious behavior, common when concealing firearms.

This suspect, 19-year-old Wayne Sessoms of James Street in Utica, was subsequently apprehended following a foot chase. During the chase, the officer reports witnessing the man throw away an object, that was later found to be a stolen .327 handgun in a 2009 burglary.

Sessoms is charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property- Class E felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon- Class D felony

The other suspect below, 30-year-old Samuel Kearney of Bleecker Street in Utica, is charged with the following:

Police say he intervened to prevent officers from arrested Sessoms, by stepping between the suspect and police.
