The Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has once again come to the aid of people displaced by a fire in Central New York. This time the volunteers assisted two individuals following a fire at the Sunny Side Apartments in North Utica.

The fire occurred Monday morning on Herkimer Road in North Utica. One apartment was damaged in the blaze and the adjacent apartment sustained smoke and water damage. According to a release from the Red Cross, "The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to two adults. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items. One resident will receive veterans' services."

There were no injuries that resulted from the fire and the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross will remain available in the coming days for any additional needs.
