A two car accident at the intersection of Clinton Road and Marley Place in New Hartford sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

New Hartford Police say Arienne Thomas, 27, of Ilion was traveling east on Alvin Place at around 2:35 Tuesday afternoon when she stopped at a stop sign.

As she pulled out, Thomas was struck by Magbule Shala-Emini, 35, of Utica, driving north on Clinton Road. Shala-Emini's vehicle was hit so hard it went off the roadway and hit two road signs before coming to rest on Clinton Road.

Both cars were heavily damaged and crews had to shut down Clinton Road for about a half hour, as they worked to remove Shala-Emini from her vehicle.

The victims were taken to local hospitals with injuries. Three passengers in Thomas' vehicle, including Patrick McGowan, 31, of Oriskany, a four year-old girl and a seven year-old boy were also taken to the hospital, but were uninjured.

Thomas is charged with failing to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign.
