PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) — A typo amounted to a $10 million mistake in northern New Jersey.

Bergen County freeholders approved a $115 million bond issue in 2012 to pay for a justice center in Hackensack and an $18 million public works facility in Paramus.

The Record newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1bkDWtk ) when officials revised the bond paperwork, they mistakenly dropped the first digit of the Paramus project's cost. That brought its recorded price tag to $8 million.

Officials say they will either have to revise the bond ordinance or find ways to carve money from the rest of the project. They're working to find out how the mistake happened.

The building is slated to open in September.
