U.S. Court Of Appeals To Hear Bruno Case This Week
Albany, NY (WIBX) – Last June, the Supreme Court ruled the charge–theft of honest services–former Senate Majority Leader, Joseph Bruno, was convicted on was unconstitutional. Today, oofficials say Bruno will be back in court this week hoping he’ll be granted an appeal. A three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals is due to hear Bruno’s case on Friday. He was convicted back in 2009 for mail and wire fraud. Since he was convicted of the crimes the law of “honest services” has been redefined. If his conviction is overturned, he will avoid a two year prison term.
