The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Test Site at Griffiss International Airport in Rome is conducting UAS test flights this week through Thursday.

The testing supports a NASA safe UAS integration project and is being performed under a NASA research contract awarded to Griffiss International in 2015.

The purpose of the testing is for operators outside NASA from all six FAA test sites nationwide to interact with research platforms at geographically diverse locations.

NASA will use the testing to collect data and feedback.

County Executive Anthony Picente said, "The New York UAS Test Site at Griffiss International continues to be at the cutting edge of research and development, including this type of data collection for NASA. We look forward to continuing our work with NASA and expanding this test site to be a national leader in Unmanned Systems Research."
