UC Students Lobby For Aid In Albany

Albany, NY (WIBX) – More than 30 Utica College students are in Albany today to advocate the protection of student aid in colleges.
The group will meet with legislators to express their concerns regarding the importance of financial aid, and tell personal stories about the impact it has had on their education.
Students are urging their legislators to support the retained funding for both the Tuition Assistance Program and for the Higher Education Opportunity Program.
Though both programs are currently fully funding as part of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s budget, it still must be passed through both the state Senate and Assembly.
According to the college, more than 90 percent of their students receive financial aid.
