More than 240 local volunteers participated in today's fourth annual Day of Action.

For the past three years, the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area has worked with the City of Utica, the Parkway Center and the Homeownership Center in an effort to reduce graffiti in the city.

Brenda Episcopo, Executive Director of the United Way, says it's a day for volunteers from the community to make a difference.

Episcopo says the volunteers painted 16 murals on dugouts, field houses and pool houses at eight different parks through the city, including TR Proctor and Wankel.

The murals were designed by local illustrator Caitlyn Knepka.
