The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area "Spread the Warmth" today by distributing 400 brand new winter coats and 100 hats and gloves to children in need.

It's the seventh year of their "Spread the Warmth" winter clothing drive.  Herb Philipson's and MVP Health Care partnered with the United Way for the coat distribution.

"It is amazing how community partners come together to support families in our local community," said Executive Director Brenda Episcopo.  "United Way is honored to be the conduit of this and many other great efforts to better our community as a whole throughout the year."

Schools receiving the winter clothing items include, Herkimer Elementary, Oriskany Central, Poland, Waterville and Frankfort-Schuyler.

The items will be distributed to children in need through the school districts.

Winter clothing was also given to the Salvation Army of Utica and Herkimer and the Neighborhood Center.
