The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area is wrapping up its seventh annual Back to School Supply Drive.

Supplies were distributed to four local schools and two community agencies on Thursday.

Executive Director Brenda Episcopo says more than 3,000 items were collected this year with a value of $3,500.

The following schools received supplies from the drive:

    • Kernan Elementary, Utica
    • Watson Williams Elementary, Utica
    • Poland Central School
    • West Canada Valley School District

Tilden School at the House of the Good Shepherd and Catholic Charities of Herkimer County also received school supplies.

The United Way also announced $1.3 million dollars in allocations for 49 local community service programs.

The funding comes from donations made to the United Way's 2016-17 campaign.

One in four people in Oneida and Herkimer Counties request help from a United Way funded program each year.
