UPD: April Proving To Be A Tough Month For Suspect
Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man found himself in police custody twice this month. The first time Utica Police arrested 37-year-old Jose Polanco of Lowell Avenue, was during a traffic stop on Bleecker Street three weeks ago, for allegedly driving on a suspended license, and for being in possession of the schedule III controlled substance, Xanax. In that incident Polanco was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor
- Controlled Substance Outside of Original Container
- Several Traffic Violations
Police say yesterday afternoon they arrested Polanco again for allegedly stealing and then selling the copper piping he took from a house recently damaged by fire. Polanco was taken into custody at Empire Recycling moments after selling the stolen copper piping. According to UPD, he still had his $69,11 receipt for the stolen items.
This time, Polanco was charged with:
- 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony
- Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor
