A 21-year-old Utica man is facing more than a half a dozen charges, including several felonies, after allegedly beating and threatening to kill his girlfriend, according to Utica Police.

Police were called to 741 South Street this week where Ian Noel is accused of punching, choking, hitting repeatedly with a belt and threatening to kill his girlfriend.

Noel was also armed with a knife, police said, and the alleged incident unfolded with the woman's new born child in the room.

Noel is charged with Aggravated Family offense (a class E felony), Criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (a class D felony), Assault 3rd degree, Endangering the welfare of a child, Criminal obstruction of breathing, Menacing 2nd degree, and Resisting arrest.

The victim was treated at an area hospital.
