Utica, NY (WIBX) - A school bus monitor is facing charges for striking an 11-year-old boy with autism on her bus. According to Utica Police, the incident happened at a designated pick-up stop, when the boy stood up to stretch his legs.

The bus monitor, 38-year-old Kendra Owens, is allegedly seen on surveillance video arguing with the student to remain seated, then punching and slapping him in the face. She's also seen slamming his head against the school bus window. Officials say the child sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Owens of Kemble Street in Utica, was arrested on Harassment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child charges.
