Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police are still investigating a shooting incident that happened last night on the 1200 block of Maple Street in West Utica. Officials say one person was struck however, the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. Public Information Officer, Sergeant Steve Hauck says reports of it being a drive-by shooting have not been confirmed. He said, "I think the connotation of the drive-by shooting is that someone is driving around shooting guns indiscriminately and that doesn't appear to be the case here." Also, he says officials are not looking for a black SUV as previously reported.

Hauck says the victim is not fully cooperating with police. "The cooperation is limited. All of our information is not in yet. We're not getting information from the direct people involved so we have to reach out to other neighbors and such to try and get a feel for what happened," he said. Anyone with information about the shooting that occurred around 8:00 p.m. last night is asked to  call UPD's Criminal Investigation Unit at (315) 223-3510.
